Hybrid Nightmares are an Extreme Metal Band from Melbourne, Australia. Formed in 2008 this quintet has earned a reputation as one of Melbourne's best live acts through a chaotic, relentless and above all, entertaining live show. Don't let their extreme image and face paint fool you, the Nightmare sound is a true amalgamation of the many diverse styles of metal that members Loki, Jonny, Ben, Batty & Gummas draw influence from. Black, death, groove, folk and classic heavy metal are all blended into the sonic maelstrom that is Hybrid Nightmares, a sound that defies any categorization other than 'extreme'
Since the release of their 2011 self titled EP, the band have gone from strength to strength. 2012 saw HN complete a successful national tour and join the Australian metal festival circuit for the first time. They were also acknowledged in Australian Heavy Music Magazine's Top 50 Aussie Metal songs when two songs from their EP made the list.
2013 saw HN headlining many shows including several local metal festivals and consolidate their position. They also supported Norway's Enslaved on their Australian Tours.
In 2014 Hybrid Nightmares returned to the studio to begin work on their next release “The Ages”. Intensive studio sessions coupled with fewer but larger live appearances refocussed the Hybrid sound into the menace that would present itself in 2015. Notable supports for the year included Gloryhammer, Beyond Creation and Ne’Obliviscaris.
2015 would see the release of their four part epic “The Ages”, with a CD released every three months for the full year, encompassing a storyline spanning thousands of years. Frequent headlining shows saw their fan base in Australia and overseas grow. The new music, coupled with a massive, energetic live show, cemented Hybrid Nightmares as one of the most entertaining live bands in Australia. This new energy and presence coupled with notable supports proved to be a big year.
January of 2016 saw Hybrid Nightmares tour overseas for the first time in support of Finntroll. After a string of successful shows in Japan, they returned to Australian soil to consolidate their position, and commence work on their next release..........
